Today is a very special day at See Her Soar…iiiiiitttt’s Becca Tieder Day.  Becca is our fearless leader on this fabulous See Her Soar flight.  I have known this amazing woman for lucky-7 years now, and I have watched her change the world many times over.  She is special, and she makes other people feel special too…perhaps some of her magical glitter stardust rubs off on each person she reaches, a number that is in the millions and climbing.  I could go on forever about all of the ways I adore her, but without further ado, let’s get to know more about Becca Tieder.

1. Tell us in a few sentences what you do. And why you do it.

I am a creator and a curator. My career has been devoted to mission-based work that improves the lives of others and creates applicable solutions to complex problems. Driven by a desire to create cultural shifts in how we perceive social issues through education, advocacy, policy and relationships.

My greatest asset is an ability to examine and address challenges through a lens of optimism, creativity and collaboration. As a true connector, my superpower is an ability to foster and maintain relationships with diverse thought leaders and a talent for engaging and igniting stakeholders. I am an entrepreneurial thinker whose sense of humor is always intact. Ideation for good is my jam.

3. When I wake up in the morning the first thing I do is…
Let the dogs out (as they woke me up) and hit brew on the coffee. I drink old school drip coffee and I love it. The first few hours of the morning are my favorite and most productive.

4. My best business advice is….
…trust yourself and get three diverse (in experience, tone and tenor) advisors. Drown out everything else and know where you are headed.

5. My professional goal for 2021 is…
…create something that makes the world kinder and more equitable. I also want to live somewhere else (ideally with seasons and mass transit) for 1-12 months, maybe longer…helping build something. So call me…let’s breathe life into your ideas.

6. Supporting women in business is now more critical than ever. How can our community best support you?
Join us, tell your friends, lean in to the idea of our collaborative potential. Honor or sponsor a woman you admire.

7. Your Astrological sign:
Libra with a Sagittarius rising

8. Favorite donut:
I am fond of pastry. Especially donuts filled with icing but alas I am allergic to gluten, and cake donuts (all the GF ones I have had are cake-like) are not the light airy magic that is a yeast donut. So I yearn in the donut rearview mirror.

9. Favorite podcast:
Mine, Dishonorable Mention. We are changing the way people who have diverse political ideologies listen and talk to one another. And the West Wing Weekly.

10. Favorite book:
That is like asking me to choose between my kids…the best books I have read in the 2020 were Untamed by Glennon Doyle and Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottleib

11. Favorite pandemic binge watch:
West Wing and The Mindy Project

12. When I practice self-care I…
…practice my morning rituals of reading a reflection in preparation for my day. And travel…which having had that taken from us has been terrible for my mental and financial health (as I was a road warrior for 17 years) and I miss it every day.

13. The place I am happiest is…
…in bed about to nap. I am a next-level napper. Or drinking coffee and watching the sunrise…in a blanket, preferably with my dogs.

14. People are surprised to learn I…
…have a theatre degree and wanted to pursue acting and eventually become the female equivalent of Howard Stern. I also wish on a star most nights.

15.   2020 taught me…
…patience and how little I can control, so control what matters. Let the rest go. It also taught me to advocate for myself and when a situation is toxic, leave. You never get that time in your life back.

When Becca approached me with a seed of an idea at the end of 2020, we very quickly and beautifully grew it into See Her Soar, a project that means so much to both of us.  Becca, thank you for trusting me to be your partner in this amazing community.  I am humbled and excited for all of our plans, and you Becca believe we are going to do big things!
