Joy Nakaatari-Dingman and I are two moms separated by a whole continent, but thankfully the internet has allowed us to walk together on the journey with our special needs kiddos. We both focus on an integrative approach to their health, me in my daughter and Joy in her son. Joy is one of those people whose challenges have influenced her career in a positive way, as you will find a major focus on integrative health and balance in her practice.  Let’s get to know more about Joy!

1. Tell us in a few sentences what you do. And why you do it.

I am a psychotherapist turned life coach. I believe in the mind/body connection and use an integrative approach to healing and wellness. As a LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) in the State of California, I provide individual therapy for Adults, Children, Teens, and the Elderly populations. I teach mindfulness skills, social emotional development and trauma informed care to help with overcoming challenges related to mental health and interpersonal relationships including stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms, trauma, self-care and more. I guide individuals and assist them with creating more balance in their lives.

In addition to psychotherapy, I also offer a life coaching option. Life coaching is different than psychotherapy. The Life coaching option that I provide is for 18+ and focuses primarily on empowerment to achieve specific short term goals you set related to wellness of the mind/body/spirit. Life coaching does not explore psychological root causes of emotions, patterns or behaviors. Rather, the focus is action oriented related to achieving specific tasks and goals. This option is great for those who are emotionally stable and want or need some accountability as you move towards goals.

I’m also a RYT 200 Certified Yoga Instructor and I enjoy teaching Adults and Kids Yoga.

Since I was young, I was called to the helping profession. I’m a mother of two kids, one with significant special needs. Through my own journey and personal healing, I learned just how important self-care and creating balance in my life is for overall health and wellness.
