Today at See Her Soar we are featuring our very own Mindfulness Jedi, Karen Mitchell.  With the increased stress, and often responsibilities, during the pandemic, we all know how much more important mindfulness has become this past year.  At Omm Office, they resourced over 1,800 people in the year 2020 alone with mindfulness meditation resources including guided meditation, classes, talks, and events, all virtual and accessible to all.  Let’s get to know more about Karen!

1. Tell us in a few sentences what you do. And why you do it.
I am a content producer, guided meditation leader, as well as the founder of mindfulness space Omm Office. I truly believe a skilled mindfulness meditation practice can eliminate racism and other-isms in the world by building resilience, empathy, and non-judgmental awareness skills in beings.

11. 2020 taught me…
…my practice works and the world is much smaller than I’d imagined. As we experience the pandemic together, I feel closer and more compassionately connected to beings all over the world due to our shared experience. I’ve had the opportunity to meet and build relationships all over the world.



To wrap up her interview, here are some meditation tips from the Mindfulness Jedi herself:

1. Find a comfortable position to sit in on the floor, in a chair, on a cushion.

2. Allow the shoulders to relax.

3. Allow the body to be in an alert position that works for you and your body type.

4. Click one of the guided meditation links and listen, follow the prompts.

5. If it is safe to do so, close the eyes or soften the gaze.

6. You may meditate in silence too if that is what you prefer.

7. And remember to Hold Peace and Harbor Joy for it is our collective birth right.
